Design

With the ATH-ANC40BT their design is like no other.

There distinct look has the wire to which wraps around the neck and then there is two larger housing units at each end of the wire.

There design doesn’t look like a high end model when it comes to design and looks, but one they do boast is sound, which we’ll get to later.

The charging port that’s used to charge the wireless earbuds is a USB-C and the cable is also provided within the whole package.

Something about these earbuds that get you a little more excited about is it also comes with a 3.5mm jack to USB-C to which you can plug straight in (providing you have the USB connector to whatever your with OR you have the jack input on your phone) (which you can buy all this from this website, even the phone with a jack input).

Having this 3.5mm jack connection with these earbuds is good because it allows you to listen to music in more ways than one. It’s also going to have a more powerful connection when opting for this end.

The controls have a separate button that actively controls the noise cancellation, this is another great feature.

On the left-hand side is the whole controlling mechanism that which controls the whole use of the wired/wireless earbuds.

To turn the earbuds on there is a big round button that you can’t miss, it’s actually very handy as well

All up there is a total amount of four buttons that operate each part of the device. There’s also a small LED light that shows you whether the earbuds are turned on, how much battery is in them, and what feature mode they are sitting.

Within the settings you can also rely upon calling for the Google Assistant.

The buttons work well with a clicking function setting.

The wire from each ends of the earbuds actually gives you enough room for size length. Some earbuds length of wire can sometimes be to long or to short, Audio Technica has done a great job at that with this earbud.

The earbuds material make is from a very strong and durable plastic with a mat finish.

The Audio Technica earphones are not waterproof or splash resistant so I wouldn’t try them in water or even a sprinkle.

The carry case that’s included is a like a rather small mesh nylon bag that reasonably fits them inside. The bag is big enough to pack them and be ready to take wherever you head.

Noise cancellation

They sport active noise canceling which is always something ultimate when it comes to sports designs.

Noise cancellation is good for many necessary reasons, wanting to get away from noise, having migraines and wanting to play your own song quietly, trying to hear the music throughout traffic, there is so many reasons to use active noise cancellation but my most important reason is to just keep a quiet surrounding.

The ANC works with these earbuds at the click of your fingers. There is a small button with a label that says ANC and the switch next to that is the switch, this also has a LED green light inside it to indicate what setting it’s in, this is good for functionality and general guidance.

Battery

The battery life on these earbuds are exceeding in terms of use.

They offer long periods of time as a matter of fact up to ten hours of contestant playback.

The only thing that bites into the battery is the active noise cancellation.

Without the noise cancelling you will receive 10 hours but when it’s turned on it drops down to eight.

To fully charge the device will take around three whole hours which is something I wish was a little bit better. Standing around for three hours would be like a pain within time.

Although you can use your own charging cables, it always recommended using the ones that come in the box.

Wired operation

Although the earbuds are wireless they also sport the 3.5mm jack connection for external use.

Everybody must admit that when using the jack connector sound quality is projected much more than over a Bluetooth connection.

With the 3.5mm jack having the external end to match a USB-C type you won’t be able to use it if you sport Apple iPhones or anything with the lightning connector.

To operate this all you have to do is plug the USB-C into your Android device and then plug the jack into your audio files, that simple and very easy to use.

Sound

Now don’t get me wrong, the mids on the ears bud are smooth, crisp, and come through very clean.

What complemented the low to mid was actually the bass and treble.

Soundscape and overall sound signature was good a clear, meaning everything separate instrument can be heard with the template song.

The earphones don’t any in way let the highs over power any of the mid range, there is however some type of harsh activity when the volume increases.

The earbuds may not suit all bass lovers but to me they sound really good. The high volume and all round noise was strong.

Verdict

Everyone about these earbuds wireless to me seem top-notch. I would use them on the daily basis if I wasn’t already using a pair.

The only thing that frustrates me is the time it takes to charge the device. It takes three hours to charge and that is a long time especially considering 2 hours is a long time. I have earbuds that take two hours to charge and I’m thinking that that’s a long time, but these are three hours.
