Audio Technica ATH-CKR 7 TW truly wireless earbuds

Great bass for anyone who likes music with lots of bass, awesome fit and functionality, charging case takes 5 hours to charge

Hey everyone welcome to another day and another review.

Today we review the wireless headphones from Audio Technica which are completely wireless.

Depending on your taste will be what drives you throughout this review. Remember the wireless earbuds can be of good use.

Truly wireless earbuds tend to make people more nervous about losing them, either that or there uncomfortability because they don’t really have much holding them in place.

Although there are so many styles and defiantly great specifications on each pair they still maintain that truly wireless feeling.

These In-Ear headphones are Audio Technicas first ever pair of true wireless earbuds, so this makes the review a whole lot more exciting.

Well that’s it for the intro, how about we dive right in. We will start of with the design and packaging.

Are these the best wireless headphones ? Well soon know!

Packaging and design

Well the first thing I noticed when I actually saw these true wireless earphones was that they actually look like the Sony WF-1000X.

The standard packaging with which the earbuds come is within a square box. The box is white with all the instructions printed on it. The earbuds are actually in another box inside that box and has a clear plastic front cover.

Finally when the earbuds are pulled from the box, another thing that I notice is the pill shaped casing of the buds.

On the case there’s a handy button which displays the battery levels through the LED lights. This makes it a lot handier when there is immediate external battery usage indicted.

Also on the back of the case is the USB-C charging input.

Finally the button on the front opens the lid of the case and it’s all very nicely designed. The functionality of it is quite smooth and sturdy.

Now unlike the Apple AirPods these truly wireless buds stay in the case when being tipped upside down. They have magnets that hold them in and when putting them back, they literally just slide right back in.

The earphones have the Audio Technica logo printed on the outside of each bud which has a nice design.

The size of the earbuds aren’t small but at the same time they aren’t to big, to estimate a side and give you a good picture in your head, if you know what a 20c coin looks like, it’s around that size.

Both earbuds are lightweight and also sport a button on each bud. The buttons are for Bluetooth and access control features on your listening device.

When the earbuds are put back into there case a little LED light on each side will flash indicating that they are put back correctly.

Operation

To operate the earbuds it’s quite simple. There are two big buttons on each side that are to be held down depending on what you want to do.

On both earphones there are more LED lights on the bottom that will start flashing when they are trying to connect to Bluetooth.

Now by holding down the buttons on both earphones for around four seconds it will make both earbuds turn off. To turn them off simply hold down the buttons for two seconds on each bud and that’s that.

Even if you want to have the case control them you can also do that. Once they are turned on simply place then back into there charging case and the case will turn them off. When you go to pull them out the next time the case will turn them on as your pulling them out and again, this is very handy indeed.

To play the music once the earbuds are in place press the button on the right earpiece once. If you want to pause the song, go to the same earbud and press that same button again just once, this is also the same way you answer the phone when your using the earbuds, by pressing that button once again.

To turn the volume up go to the left earphone and press the button once or as many times as you like, to increase the volume. Now to decrease volume you want to press it twice.

Now to skip songs go back to the right earpiece and press it twice.

Also on the right side of you want to play it back a song press it three times.

Bluetooth

The ATH-CKR 7 TW are made with Bluetooth 5.0 technology and are codec compatible with apteX, AAC, Qualcomm and SBC. These features means that these earbuds will work well with iPhones, Androids and most other devices.

Battery

The battery life of these earbuds is 6 hours of talk time. This is something to look out for when looking for a new pair of earbuds because running out of performance during the start of your day can remain a deterrent. The charging case sports an additional 9 hours of extra charging giving these earbuds a total of 15 hours all up.

15 hours all up is something I highly recommend when looking for new earbuds.

To have both the earphones and charging case fully charged takes 2 hours. To charge the earbuds in the case also takes 2 hours.

Sound

Now the low end bass was loud and the kick drums were totally present.

The punch that which flatted the RNB and rap was what really stood out for me.

The was a good distinction throughout the whole sound with regards to soundstage and the mids.

The overall earphones sound is bass punchy that which will appeal to most music listeners.

Verdict

I actually found these earbuds to be better than most I tested and worked with.

There’s not much I can really say that I did not like about these earphones.

If I was to rate them out of five I would probably choose 4 out of 5.

The fit and function along with the sound quality is better than most of not all other truly wireless earphones.

If you want to something to compare them to with regards to sound, try the Sennheiser Momentums and I think you find what I mean.

The battery last longer on the CKR and the fit and functionality is just superb.
